I had a very productive day at this month's gun show. I bought a new upper receiver, a M16 bolt carrier group, a heavier buffer, a stiffer action spring, and a beefier extractor spring, all in the interest of lower felt recoil (which translates to better double-tap accuracy) and reliability. I have a mid-length barrel and a floated handguard kit on order. The best part is that even after installing all the new stuff, the rifle still cycles properly. I guess I have to visit the range tomorrow. :) $350 well-spent. :)

.45 ACP - because shooting twice is just silly

I get quite a bit of spam that might help with that problem...

If you're ever interested of off-loading that particular boom-stick, let me know.

Don't blame me. I voted for Chuck Norris.

They're still there but they give my property a wide berth, and when we pass on the street, they try not to look me in the eye. I'm a dangerous man, apt to do dangerous things.

When you think about it, I've done that with the parts I'm buying. The BCG is ion-bonded (an alternative to hard chrome), and rest of the stuff I'm doing reduces wear/tear on the rifle. A mid-length gas system reduces the force spread tot he rifle, thus improving long-term reliability. The heavier extractor spring makes extractions much more reliable. Unless the fire control group pins start walking out of the receiver, I'm not going to install the anti-walk-out stuff, and the trigger is good enough not to mess with. On the hard-chrome issue, the only thing that really does is make it a little easier to clean. There's no other tangible benefit to it.
