Great Day today (read: we released v1.0)
-
I've been very busy lately and I've neglected CP most of the time. That's because we were polishing the last bits of our main product, and today we exited the beta stage and released v1.0. It feels really good, even knowing that it's just the beginning of a lot more work. I'm really happy about our product intro video which is way cool in my opinion. Launch day is always quite complex: new website, blog post, Twitter, newsletter, press release, etc. The end result is satisfying though. Now, if you're interested in what I'm talking about, follow the 'Continuous Localization' link in my signature.

This was a triumph. I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction. Aperture Science We do what we must because we can. For the good of all of us. Except the ones who are dead. But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake. And the Science gets done. And you make a neat gun. For the people who are still alive. I'm not even angry. I'm being so sincere right now. Even though you broke my heart. And killed me. And tore me to pieces. And threw every piece into a fire. As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you! Now these points of data make a beautiful line. And we're out of beta. We're releasing on time.
So I'm GLaD. I got burned. Think of all the things we learned for the people who are still alive. Go ahead and leave me. I think I prefer to stay inside. Maybe you'll find someone else to help you. Maybe Black Mesa THAT WAS A JOKE. HAHA. FAT CHANCE. Anyway, this cake is great. It's so delicious and moist. Look at me still talking when there's Science to do. When I look out there, it makes me GLaD I'm not you. I've experiments to run. There is research to be done. On the people who are still alive. And believe me I am still alive. I'm doing Science and I'm still alive. I feel FANTASTIC and I'm still alive. While you're dying I'll be still alive. And when you're dead I will be still alive. Awesome App, Wish we had this 3 months ago, but I've sent a notification to the management team, and we might use it on our next translation gig.. Good job.
I'd blame it on the Brain farts.. But let's be honest, it really is more like a Methane factory between my ears some days then it is anything else... -"The conversations he was having with himself were becoming ominous."-.. On the radio...

Twas the Night Before Go Live Twas the night before implementation And all through the house Not a computer was working, Not even a mouse. The programmers hung by their ties in despair, With hopes that a miracle soon would be there. The customers were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of progress danced in their heads. When out of the CODE there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a super programmer (with a six pack of beer). His resume glowed with experience so rare, He turned out great code with a bit pusher's flair. More rapid than eagles, his routines they came, And he whistled and shouted and called them by name: On operator NEW! On operator DELETE! On "for" loops! "do while"! On Functions Complete! His eyes were glazed over, fingers nimble and lean, From weekends and nights spent in front of a screen. A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know, I had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, Turning specs into code, then turned with a jerk; And laying his finger upon the "enter" key, The system came up and worked perfectly. The functions functioned; the deletes, they deleted; The inquiries inquired and "for" loops completed. He tested each whistle, and tested each bell, With nary a rewrite, thus all had gone well. The code was checked in, the tests were concluded, Marketing's last changes were even included. "Heh!", the customer exclaimed with a snarl and a taunt, "It's just what I asked for, but not what I want!"

Congratulations, it *is* just the beginning, the real world will seemingly grind your app down and leave it with a huge list of fixes and changes but that's a good thing. :)
