Last day of contract and not managed to get anything else lined up yet - bums :( Just feeling a bit glum at the moment.

Good Luck in your search, I know it is grim out there. I have a couple of highly qualified friends working in a warehouse at the moment, whilst looking for a job in their particular niche, and doing so only to pay mortgages etc.

Comes with the ground, that's why the rates are so good. You'll be busy today with ringing the crooks agencies up. Good luck, if all else fails you can always go back to the land of the permie.

I've been off for about a week. Haven't started looking yet. I always get glum when I'm looking. Have to do things every day toward some project as well as look around or I get bummed.

Sending off for all sorts at the moment - contract and perm. I'd apply to be a gigolo but I'd probably have to pay the ladies to take me on :)

I've yet to find anything: it's a strange market out there. Have had a few telephone interviews which went okay but yet to get any further. Have an interview on Tuesday which looks interesting but it is harder than the job boards make it out to be. Looking for a new role is a full time job - you just have to keep at it and not get frustrated. There will be times when you ace the interview but don't get the role becuase they went with a cheaper contractor or they had just a little more of the right experience or, something that happens a lot, they were also interviewing internally and you never had a hope. You must ensure that your cv is posted to at least JobServe and update it every week (even if by adding a full stop somewhere) so you'll get more attention. If you are going for perm as well as contract you'll need a cv for each. Here is my artcile on CVs for contractors: Contracting for Dummies: The CV/Resume[^]. A permie cv needs less bullet points and more about you. Good luck!

Keep going! I got so disheartened after my first couple of rejections which I thought I'd aced, but I got back up, tried again, and now I'm out of this place in 2 weeks :-D Good luck :thumbsup:

This is something that really pisses me off, I know it comes with the territory but I hate walking out of an interview knowing that you nailed it, only to hear it went to an internal promotion. [touch wood] Thankfully I have just signed for another 2 years, still I'd love to work in the UK again but with the market so difficult I'm reluctant to move from a very comfortable niche. As a contractor you should be inured to the repeated requirement to find the next one! You know it will happen and you know you need to retain that positive, sunny, smiley outlook so you can project the confidence your skills entitle you to. Hang in there!
