Where can I find a good introduction to antennae? I would like to build my own.

I am the handsome one in the crowd.

The premier source for this sort of information is the American Radio Relay League bookstore. Hams have been building their own antennas since radio was invented, and in fact, have contributed far more to the technology than any funded organization. Take a look at some of these[^] books and try a couple. Once you've got some practical experience designing and building working antennas you can pick up a fancy communications textbook and wade through the math if you're that interested.

Well... I can model it, give you the antenna pattern, mathematically figure out your line of sight to any other antenna, power over distance, Fresnel zone obstructions, working on multipath and reflections now... but build one? I haven't a clue....

Start with a stick and a couple feet of wire. Add duct tape to taste...
