No, I haven't. Is there any reason why I should do so? (ie, is Narayana Murthy a famous computer scientist, or philosopher, or comedian? If they're an actor, who cares...) Iain.

I am one of "those foreigners coming over here and stealing our jobs". Yay me!

Actually, NRN (popularly known as NR Narayan Murthy) is neither an philosopher, scientist or actor, however, a combination of all. He is one genius who changed the perspective of the rest of the world toward India from 'third world' to 'IT Super Power'. In the years of scams like Satyam, Enron and Union Carbide; he is one saint who displayed that money can be made in ethical manner as well.

Heh, no worries. There are very few dumb questions, but a lot of dumb answers. Iain.

Dude, mistake. The Lounge will not accept posts about anyone not from the US, Canada, or perhaps the UK. Someone else posted it in GIT where it will be better accepted.

The guys who replied to you know who he is (or would have once they viewed the link). Their reply was primarily sarcastic as in - don't post stuff about people they don't care about.

Indeed it is; it's been used that way for over a thousand years, so don't let anyone tell you that you can't use it that way.

Not at all, like me they probably didn't follow the link as they couldn't tell from the URL who the hell it was the OP was linking to. If he had spent a sentence or two to advise who it was and why we may give enough of a toss to view said link, it may have been accepted without sarcastic follow up posts.

Well we have several folks (particularly from the UK) posting news links to stuff that no one outside the UK would be interested in, and no, they don't add any comments either - it's usually just a link. No one replies to those threads with supposedly-funny retorts, do they? Ironically it's people from the UK who are quick to put down other threads. The Americans are tolerant (not surprising at all since the US is a far more culturally tolerant and accommodative country in general - probably the most tolerant in the world).
