I tried listening to him fora spell and then got an FM transmitter for the mp3 player. Much better. I do pop back to see if he's got over himself yet but sadly it appears not to have happened yet.

When I first listened to him my immediate reaction was to dislike him. Then I thought - no, maybe I'm missing something here, listen to it some more and maybe you'll grow to like it. But, nah, still don't like him. I've yet to meet someone who does listen to him regularly. :)

Just wondering how many of you listen to Radio 1 with Chris Moyles and like him? Personally I find that he talks too much, unfunny and just generally completely irritating. I would rather cut my own fingers off with a penknife then have to listen to him every morning, but then again there are people who absolutely love him and think that he fully justifies his £650,000 a year salary. Any thoughts? :)

I don't often listen to the radio, but when I have and he's been on, I can't bare it. I agree entirely with your assessment of him.

Can be amusing, but can't cope with listening to him for long. He is also a fairly crap person who would be unable to survive without a team to pander to him. I mostly listen to Five Live in the car (the only time I listen to the radio) but a couple of months ago started working my way through my CD collection which had been in my airing cupboard for 5 years. Just taking the next CD (they are in no order) each day for the drive to work. This has been very good fun.

Much prefer local BBC radio. Now if that salary was in the old Italian Lira then he might be worth it, but not British Pounds. No broadcaster is worth such an obscene salary. Apparently, he is not a morning person :|

Yes there can be too much talk, but some of the banter between him, his crew and the guests can be really entertaining. He is a million times better than Sara Cox. She is just a pain in the ears.....and more irritating than tinnitus.

Now I listen to Radio 4's Today programme (as I don't read a paper in the morning, this acts as my news), then a bit of Chris Evans who gives me a smile - although plays too much old music. If not the radio, then like you I whack on some CD's, the missus bought me Dizzee Rascals CD which I have to say rocks. Or raps. Or whatever I'm supposed to say - he is rather good.

I listen for about 20 minutes each morning between dropping my wife off and getting to work myself. He's OK. I quite like "Rob DJ's Monday night pub quiz" on Tuesday mornings. If my drive was much longer (as it has been in the past) I'd sort out some mp3/podcasts to listen to, but for 20 minutes he'll do. On the other hand, 20 minutes of Scott Mills on the way home leaves me ready to smash the radio into little pieces.

I'll cut out the unnecessary words for you. R1 hasn't been worth listening to since they got rid of Dave Leet[*] Travis! I turned into a R4 addict, with the odd dash of World Service. Thank goodness for podcasts, and listen again. (I'm out of reception range here...) I appreciate that R1 has a listenership of teenagers and weird adults, but for mainstream pap music they are perfectly well served by commercial stations. Maybe R6 for some off the wall odd music, but why are the tax payers paying prats[+] a fortune to waffle inanely between bad tunes? Let advertisers do that! (And breathe...) Iain. [*] That was a type, but I'm leaving it in. [+] Back on topic!

 That's funny, because I actually quite like Scott Mills! He comes out with some random things which make me chuckle. :)

Kerrang! - is that on digital radio? The car only has the old FM/AM doohickey...

I think you have to be near to Birmingham to get it. 105.2FM

Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.
