Yeah, I'm a week into a trial month, and I'm quite disappointed with the lack of streaming content. I want immediate gratification! Marc

Allow me to apologize on behalf of NetFlix. We're a US company, you see, and our Marketing folks assured us that, after spending years doing careful research, door-to-door cavassing, thousands of telephone surveys, it was determined that all Canadians are interested in is: 1. Lumberjacks 2. Beavers 3. Pressing flowers 4. Cross-dressing 5. Hockey 6. Beer 7. Bad pop music 8. Celine Dion musical hits 9. More Beavers 10. More Beer Our selection was tailored to these very specific desires north of the border. Maybe next time you won't tell our survey operators to "piss off," eh? ;P

Sheeeet. That's passe. Now it's, "we had a fight two weeks ago, I can't remember about what, but I'm not doing it!" Needless to say, that relationship is now long done, can't even remember who it was that said that to me! ;) Marc

When writable CDs came out (and later DVDs) I contended that I would start paying for the content I wanted when they would let me. So I Napster'd for a while, then Limewire. Then Puretracks came out and offered a buck-a-track service. So, I refused to become a hypocrite and started paying for my content. Now, Netflix has finally been released in Canada. Integrated on all the consoles. Live streaming in any room. All the movies, TV series and documentaries a guy could wish for...time to cancel cable, right? Wrong. I went looking for movies and TV series that I actually watch. Nada. It seems that most of the current flicks - and certainly most of the classics - are not available in Canada for streaming. AND, because Netflix doesn't offer it's DVD service to Canucks, we can't get the non-streaming movies at all. This is so close to being cool. The studios and distribution channels need to figure this out. I really wish they'd get all this content digitized and make it available...I'M WILLING TO PAY FOR YOUR CONTENT, YOU POOPS*! *"You poops" taken from Throw Momma from the Train, also not available in Canada

I realized this beforehand and still signed up for the service. I tested it via 2 week trial and decided for $9 a month it's worth not having to every buy the kids another DVD. I can turn the Wii on and they can watch all the Dora they want. While the "big boy" selection is slim there are still quite a few movies I haven't seen that I want to as well as a few series (i.e. Top Gear) that I haven't seen before. I do agree though that stream day of release would help them but I'm sure that would require more money to the studios and hence more money from me which would lead to my canceling of the service because as of now I feel the price is right. However, keep in mind that I don't have cable and haven't for over 5 years so maybe I just don't watch enough TV :-D

Listen, it's beaver tails, not just beavers, and it's the best darned pastry you're ever going to eat. Besides, you missed pine cones, maple syrup and toques ENTIRELY! ...but I'll give you bad pop music. Glad to see that, in spite of putting that out there, that you were still able to break out Celine Dion. Vegas is, I'm sure, still thanking us.

I understand. I'd been looking at it for about 2 years prior to actually getting it and the Wii streaming was what put me over the edge. Now if only I could get a fast enough connection from my ISP to stream HD on my PS3 I'd be completely happy :)

Netflix is out of any doubt the best service for the buck I’ve ever experienced for so many reasons that I have no time to list them all and I’m using it from 3 years. So kudos for them and for the USPS/when they don’t break my discs, but the Netflix exchange them pretty quickly/. The streaming content is decent for the movies and rather comprehensive for the kids section and documentaries.

Actually, what they stream is probably the same there and here (usa), they do not have everything available. You might get something like "Planet 51" streaming, but then 90% of the movies out the same time do not and may not for some time. I do not think it will be too long before some companies wake up and put everything out there. Now that Blockbuster went bankrupt, not sure how that will fit int he mix..

Like so many thousands of other "lost" customers, Netflix got their last eighteen bucks from me...oh sure, their DVD service is 'decent' but not much better than Red-Box unless you're into some older TV series or movies - but IF YOU WANT TO STREAM anything worth a crap, DO NOT look to Netflix for *insert anything of quality here* WTG Netflix.... See ya!

True, but then there's always Hulu and other online sites.

In order for a company to offer a movie/tv show on disc (or streaming), certain legalities have to be met (e.g., copyrights). Just because one company has met those does not mean they all have.
