I think you are nuts. Other things: 1. We did land on the moon. 2. There is no face on Mars. 3. Insert more lunatic conspiracy theories here. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

Even though one of my good friends who works with a reputed AntiVirus cos say that they are just the firemen, I think its these companies themselves that write them in the first place. Looking at the complex way these viruses exploit vulnerabilities in applications and the OS and more importantly the HUGE business it generates for these cos, I think not every one is written by some crazy moron who has loads of time to kill. I agree with Daniel. It's realy too easy to write a virus, and I don't believe there's any need for these companies to write them. What's more, at University I've known 3 person who developed experimental virus, just for fun, and never released them. As a teacher at University I've heard about other people testing virus code too. Here at University there's a formal group named GISVI who specialices in System Security. This group started as a couple of friends studing and testing virus ten years ago. Considering the number of developers around the world and the number of viruses, I'm glad there aren't much more out there.

Following your theories, I think that police may be involved in most crimes. And private security services do, too. And they charge for their services. And who buys antivirus stuff anyway? Really, I program since I was 11, I used several computers and NONE until today have got infected with a single virus. There are three kind of people who gets viruses: 1. People who use pirated software 2. People who run software from a undetermined source. 3. People who think older software is better than newer software. Like "Hey, Micro~1 sucks. So I use an old Windows NT 4.0, without any service packs nor hotfixes, because it's more secure and service packs are buggy." No antivirus will ever substitute good security habits. And, you want to ruin a company? Just break your customer's trust. People who says that kind of thing normally does not have a clue of how a virus works and how it is disseminated. You don't need to create a virus for this people, just send FORMAT.COM by e-mail to them and they'll destroy their own machine. My latest article: SQL Server DO's and DONT's[^]

Crop Circles, and please from now on they are Alien Navigational Beacons so please respect my masters wishes for the use of correct terminology, are created by genetically modified corn. Yes, GM foods. Genes extracted from VB loving wombats are implanted into corn and distributed around the world. Wombats are a known ally of the Aliens and have side kick *sic* links with the Alien Navigational Systems, or ANS. When ANS broadcasts certain signals the GM corn responds and bends to the encoded signals. The signals are an advanced form of XML run through Quantum Photonic Entanglement Encrypters, or QPEE (thought my masters jokingly refer to it as CP30, because George Lucas is one of them and they always like giving their mates a ribbing.) So now you know the truth. No wonder African countries do not want GM food.

At Symantec, anyone caught doing that would be bounced out on their ass before they knew what hit them. It would be both unethical and illegal for an AV company to write viruses. If a company ever did that, their reputation would be destroyed beyond repair. At Symantec, anyone caught doing that would be bounced out on their ass before they knew what hit them. Ranjeet Chakraborty wrote: I think not every one is written by some crazy moron who has loads of time to kill. Um, that is exactly the kind of person that writes complex viruses and exploits. But hey, don't let a former NAV programmer stop you from making wide sweeping claims about the whole industry. --Mike-- "alyson hannigan is so cute it's crazy" -- Googlism Just released - 1ClickPicGrabber - Grab & organize pictures from your favorite web pages, with 1 click! I am not saying its useless to buy an AV product, just speculating the possibility of their hands being dirty. Yes, they charge. No one is working for free. And there's a BIG bunch of money involved.

Ok very cute and all, a good arguer could debate whether you are really alive or not so just showing photos of there being no Boeing is hardly convincing. What I want to see is what he thinks really happened and the proof for it.
