I have a general Weven question: In our company, we make extensive use of NetMeeting. I have heard that NetMeeting is not available on Vista+, and there is a Weven roll out planed next year. - Does Microsoft sell it separately from Weven, or is there no NetMeeting at all for Weven ? (e.g. did they find a new opportunity to make money, or did they sleep again ?) - How complicated would it be to program a basic clone of NetMeeting (mmmh... maybe an article possibility, unless someone already thought about it) ?

Why write something that already exists? GotoMeeting works well and isn't that expensive. That said, if you are a lone developer, it might be too much money...

Because NetMeeting was free. Count several thousands of licenses, even "not expensive" turns to "expensive".

We now use the new Microsoft Office Communicator replacement for NetMeeting. Works great. (Currently deployed in a Vista environment, but shortly to be upgraded to W7). http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/communicator/[^]

This[^] may help. Either to use directly or as an example to refer to / start from.

This app is for xp, I'd need something that runs under Weven.

Maybe I missed it - but I didn't see anything that said it didn't work with Vista or Weven. :~

No it does not seem to be free. I don't know what the real world cost is. As with many large organisation, they have volume licensing. so know idea what the company pays for it. I know I can by Office 2010 for 8ukp for home use via the companies Microsoft HUP agreement!

Think it's been replaced by numerous other things since then. Windows Live Messenger, Office Communicator, Live Meeting, Windows Live Call and a few others whose names I can't remember. For some reason MS insist on completely redesigning some of their products every few years and giving them a new name so it's hard to keep up.

If you're looking for a free but still useful replacement... Skype works for most things - including screen sharing and remote control. And, in the new beta it'll even allow for video chat from multiple sources.
