I have a question. We have VS Web Developer 2010 Express. Can this be used to create real web sites that can be installed on our hosting provider, or is it just for standlone or internal use? I'm not up on this sort of thing just yet. We don't really want to buy VS 2010 Pro unless we have to. Cheers.

Probably Expression Web is better suited for websites.

I can't be arsed to wade through the EULA on your behalf, you lazy toe-rag. However, according to the last Q/A here[^], you can. You might also want to look at the Microsoft Web Platform Installer[^]. Last link in the first section.

Thank you Henry. This phrase here

would have been quite sufficient. I was asking the forum more in the style of "has anyone used it do what I was wanting to do" rather than not being bothered to wade through the EULA. Better to ask people who have already done it - or so I thought. FYI I am neither lazy nor a toe-rag.

The Express versions don't have any use restrictions... Just functional limitations... Can't use extensions, don't think they can integrate with source control, probably missing the testing and analysis stuff, etc.

Eh, I use it at work... Granted, I'm a solo developer, so I mainly just use it as an integrated backup-to-a-network-drive tool and a crap-I-screwed-something-up-six-months-ago-so-let's-rewind tool, not for any sort of collaboration or branching.
