So I have a HP DV4T 1000 running Windows 7 Home Premium and it slows down to a crawl if the power cord gets disconnected accidentally. I tried googling, it only has the usual "update your BIOS" solutions which i already tried (updated the chipset, graphics card drivers etc. too) but no use. I did some more digging and figured it was when the Laptop tried switching to the "Power Saver" mode that it started misbehaving. Anybody else had a similar problem? How can I at least stop it from switching to the power saver mode when running on batteries? Thanks in advance!

    I are n00b.

Right click on the power icon at the bottom of the screen. That will give you the settings options.

But I did not see an option to disable the Power Saver mode completely :(

Go into the Power Options and select Change plan settings for the Power saver mode then click on Change advanced power settings. Scroll down to Processor power management and set Minimum processor state and Maximum processor state to 100% and set System cooling policy to active. This will reduce battery running time but should keep the processor running at full speed, if these options are available in home premium.
