Code Project Meetup Day
-
I propose we have a day each year where all Code Project members actually get off their computers and meet with eachother in some public location. Here are the proposed details:
- When: the first Saturday night of August.
- Where: local pubs.
I know a lot of members don't like to post their location online. Somebody should build a mobile device app that will anonymously post a person's location. It will require Code Project login details so other's don't try to use it. And it should be on multiple platforms (maybe even one on Code Project for members who don't have smartphones). We can then use that map to find the best places to meet other Code Project members. Maybe we could even have a pin/wristband or something that identifies us, so we can spot eachother. This meetup day should be announced in all Code Project emails sent prior to the day. And Bob should dress up for it too. Now we just need Chris to ratify this proposal. :)
I have to wait till August. Man, what a letdown. :)

I figure this winter is too cold for any of us to want to leave our cozy chairs, and that should leave everybody plenty of time to implement the details (plan Code Project emails, design wristbands, create Bob logo, code location apps). :)

It's always the fugistics that get in the way of progress. :)

What about the members of CP that don't drink. Pubs really only work for drinkers.
Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. I also do Android Programming as I find it a refreshing break from the MS. "And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs" -- Robert Frost

It's okay Ennis. You go ahead and order beers and I'll drink them for you. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. :)

Fair enough, I choose not to consume alcoholic beverages either orally, intravenously, or rectally. Although, I would mainline sour patch kids.

Simple, just look for the pasty untanned person in the Visual Studio 2008 t-shirt looking at their smartphone Windows Mobile 7 device

I think Christian Graus can make this one exception and have a drink with the rest of us. ;P Bar & grills that serve alcohol and food? Adult bookstores? Regular bookstores? Cafes? I'm also open to suggestions. :)

Interesting survey.... how many CP members doesn't drink? I do! Cheers! SideNote: I spent the last 10 minutes looking for the code for  :~

We should all meet in Hawaii. I'm sure Chris will be happy to foot the bill.

Take it another step and have each pub, or elsewhere, Skype for one big Hello. Of course it should be planned for CodeProject anniversary. Chris could buy the first round ;)

I think regional meets would be cool. I'll be at the shooting range if anyone wants to meet me. No booze before or during, please.
