    so i'm thinking of acquiring a domain name, is there a way to know its history (i.e. previous ownership if exists, etc.)? what else would i want to know about a domain?

          It's not foolproof because they don't store snapshots of everything; but you could look and see if anything was hosted on it in the past using the wayback machine.

          3x12=36 2x12=24 1x12=12 0x12=18

                      ... which is result number two for this[^] query. I suppose that people only down-vote for things that they don't want to Google themselves.
