Most people here have a rather mediocre opinion of Crystal Reports mostly because many have been scarred profoundly from using it. The replies you got were all humorous responses mocking Crystal Reports, and not you personally. One way to look at this is to assume that posting about Crystal Reports here is like discussing gay marriage on a catholic church’s website.

Any mention of Crystal Reports spit will get this type of response from anyone who has spent any real time working with it. CR is such a horrible product and it has been around for so long and is hated by so many developers that this type of reaction is inevitable. Don't take CR comments personally, you are only the messenger and in Roman times would have been executed for the content. The level of vitriol heaped on CR is directly proportional to the length of time spent working with it. Mind you with a sig like that you may come under some additional stress!

Now that's an understatement if I ever see one.

Not that I can see. It's not a programming question, but rather a navigation query - perfectly valid in the Lounge. But Crystal Reports is not a well regarded product among those who are forced to use it because some idiot in Purchasing spent a bunch of money buying it and had to make it the company standard to save face. We do have members here who work for the company and who help to develop the product, and I believe that they look for comments and questions about it in order to help users. I'd suggest posting in the forum appropriate to the language or technology you're using for your project, then feature "Crystal Reports" boldly in the Subject line to attract their attention. I think you'll get a decent response by doing so. Good luck! By the way, I've used it, and it has never once performed as described in the manual, nor as I needed it to. Since that hellish experience 5 or 6 years ago, I refuse to even look at it. That makes me a rather poor resource, so don't even ask... :-D
