Hi I want to start using an XBee for wireless/RC robotics. I have had a look at the XBee but with so many types out there I don't know which is the best to get. Any suggestions?

what are you wanting to do with it. You need to look at the power output to determine the range you need, and then the data rate and protocols to see how much bandwidth you got to play with.

Another piece of advice get the Series 1 not Series 2.5. The Series 2.5 is older and is not as well supported.

Basically I want to be able to transmit data over a range of 1 to 6 miles. The data will come from RFID tags which the XBee will send to a station located nearby (1-6 miles).
