I placed this here because of it's likely falling apart into political mudslinging! Ireland's Borrowing Rate Increases[^]. The upshot of this will be a massive shift in debt to Ireland, which, owing to it's tiny population (5 million) and lack of industry or services skills (Relies heavily on Agriculture and Tourism), will be unable to meet it's financial obligations. Bang, It goes bankrupt and will have to be bailed out by the other members of the Euro Zone. This won't happen as Merkel is under too much pressure at the moment, so Ireland goes third world and it's people are taxed to buggery. Then, of course, the mortgages start to default, and the banks foreclose in an effort to recoup the losses. Families thrown onto the street and having to be housed at the States expense, although the state has no money and cannot borrow any. Riots and uprisings! I bet the Irish will blame the English. "You Bastards! We were forced to vote three times before we finally caved in and joined the Euro, but you stayed out and now we are suffering for your wisdom!" Still, Ireland hates being a sovereign nation. Four hundred years they fought to get rid of English Overlordship, and then immediately handed power over to an unelected, unrepresentitive dictatorship run by the French and Germans. Ireland is getting it's reward for weakness. So, After Ireland defaults, the Euro weakens. This means that the other PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) will also be forced to pay more and tighten the tax noose on their people. More Rioting. I predict the breakdown of the EU and the end of the Euro. Germany will probably be the first to re-introduce a National Currency, and it will be as hard as flint. Bring it on.

No, because my euros are better than you pounds. Some of your coins are like edge cases: you can't even roll them down the road. ;)

If you are thinking of our 50p peice, that is designed to roll, it has 14 curves.

That's a bumpy road. Euros are a lot more smoother to ride.

Andrea? Do you mean Angela Merkel? From this side of the pond, it looks likely that Germany will distance itself from the Euro sooner rather than later, which will be a great blow to France.

I’m also wondering when the Germans finally will fed up with subsidizing some of the European countries.

It was my impression that Germany wasn't too happy about the Euro in the first place.
