research labs will just start stacking these little supercomputers together to form superdupercomputers. like they have always done.

Back in the day, iPhones used to be the size of fridges. We already have "supercomputers" the size of sugar cubes. Only the definition of "supercomputers" keeps changing, and they will likely never fit into a sugar cube while they are still defined as supercomputers.

They want to stack processors one on top of another, envisioning vast stacks, each separated by water cooling channels not much more than a hair's breadth in thickness.
As an engineer, that makes me raise an eyebrow! How will they keep the channels open and ensure that no dust particle ever blocks them? The hair sized channels would also have to be short enough that the heat can transfer without flashing or reaching a stable temperature, because if there's no temperature difference, there's no heat transfer. Maybe it can be done, but I think they still have lots of work to do. Of course, we could always go back to using the wildly successful bubble memory ... :laugh:

What is a computer today without internet. How about superduper fast internet instead. Spend some money on that please. Our computers is only as fast as out internet. Over here in South Africa the internet really sucks badly and we get ripped off on top of that. We get charged per gig we download and have caps. $50 per gig... bloody rip off. How about superduper fast video cards instead for 3d graphics. There are many areas where they can improve on before making more superduper fast/small computers... get your priorities in order. :suss:

Hmmm, let's see - water goes in cold, comes out hot - so where does the hot water go? Sounds like a perfect setup for a supercomputer that can also make coffee! ;) Now if that isn't super, what is! :cool:
