On Friday just gone, I was driving back home after being onsite with a client in the morning. As I pulled up at a set of traffic lights, a white van pulled up beside me with two blokes in it, gesturing wildly at me... I wind down the passenger side window to ask what they want. Driver in heavy UK type accent says "Hey - are you looking for a home theatre?" I reply "What?" He says "A home theatre system, surround sound, big screen, projector etc" I reply "No thanks." Passenger says (also in heavy accent) "No, it's legit. (Waving paper) We work for this company, and they ordered one too many so we are just trying to get rid of it." I reply "No thanks." The lights change to green, and the van roars off into the distance changing lanes erratically and then turns right, while I continue straight ahead to home. Truly bizarre!! Goods that hadn't even fallen off the back of a truck yet... Anyone else experienced something similar?

Used to happen quite a bit but not so much any more. People must have finally caught on! They would troll parking lots hollar at lights and all kinds of crazy stuff to get your attention.

Yes! It happened to me in the manner you just described except that the people did not have UK accent in my case. For fun, I did bargain with the guys. The guys were asking for $2000, I told him that I will only pay $400. They came down to $800 and I said no and they disappeared.

I can't believe it. I never win ANYTHING. I'm so excited. What do I do next ? And so on. Then I claim to have no bank account, or no passwort, or whatever.

Anyone who has been to London, has been approached by similar people in vans.

Yeah, I know it happens elsewhere in the world, but for it to happen here in sunny Bris-vegas is a bit of an eye-opener for me... Perhaps I've just been lucky so far... :shrugs:

The brother of a mate of mine bought a TV with no insides of some similar fellows a few years ago. My brother bought a TV from a car boot sale and when he put channel 3 on the TV channel display said something very rude. He never worked out how to get rid of it. TV was perfectly fine apart from that.
