Have you ever had signs you played too much games? Here's two that really happened (only funny if you now the game. 1) My friend and where playing Red Alert over LAN. It was a really long game, with all spice gone so we where fighting over those green boxes that appear from time to time. We had to stop after 8 hours coz we had to go to a barbeque. Sitting quire relaxed at the BBQ, my friend suddenly stands up and yells "a green box!". He actually had an adrenaline rush of seeing a green box in the grass (as both of us had while playing RA). The green box turned out to be a case of Carlsberg beer... 2) I started playing Baldur's Gate Saturday morning. Was playing all day when I had to stop (playing about 12 hours non stop). I had to go to a party. At the party, someone was telling me something, which I didn't quite get, so my reaction was to press space to pause our conversation... Sometimes at the office I end up quoting Quake II marines that were in the prisons is the correct voice when I hit a bad coding problem "Kill me now", "It hurts...." I also sometimes end up playing long games of Counter-Strike whilst alseep. I have only shot my GF once at night (I talk/walk in my sleep sometimes) Roger Allen Sonork 100.10016 I have a terminal disease. Its called life!

Have you played Wolf 3D? One of my friends used to sneak up on corners in his car after playing it for long. I think he imagines someone is going to shoot him, if he turns the corner normally :-) My article on a reference-counted smart pointer that supports polymorphic objects and raw pointers

About 10 years ago, my colleague played a lot of times the game 'PipeMania' (you had to lay pipes faster than the oil was coming through the pipes). One day while he was driving his car, he kept looking in the top left corner of his windscreen to see which kind of pipe would become available next. Last year (not-game related), my [other] colleague wanted to phone somebody. He pressed the digits on the phone, then tried to find the Enter-key on his telephone. Recently at work, my phone rang. I immediately de-iconified Outlook to read the incoming mail ... until I realized it was the phone that was ringing. Enjoy life, this is not a rehearsal !!!

Actually I don't play games that much but sometimes I code for a bit too long. When I was at school learning Java I did a couple of assignments. After one coding session I got home sometime during the night and went to sleep. I had to go back to school the morning after and when the alarm clock woke me up I remember the first thing that crossed my mind was "gosh I must override the paint() function of this alarm clock". I'm sure others have similar stories :-)

Oh no, these things were like 3 inches thick and she would make 10 large trays of them at a time. She would use whole blocks of cheese and cans of tomato for one tray! I always used to do that with my alarm clock. I dont remember the specific thoughts, but I always thought that I still needed to tweak the code of my alarm clock especially to change the annoying buzzing sound.

I used to play F-Zero X on the Nintendo 64. In that game you can crash into the other ships and knock them off the road, then go into the margins of the road to refuel your shields. A few times while driving along a set of curving roads on the crowded freeway, I had this vision of how I was going to take out the nearby cars in order to get ahead of the pack. That was actually a little scary after I came to my senses.
