I hate my android phone (smart phone geeks and non-lazy nerds avert your eyes)

Go ahead, call me Christian Graus, but I hate it. But why do I hate it? Because the alarm clock app thinks that it's a great idea to continue yelling until I get off the bed and give it a pat on the back. There's no way I could configure it to be less of a prick. But like many geeks, I'm a seasoned professional in dealing with alarm clocks. The louder the alarm yells, the more I cuddle up inside a warm and cosy blanket, and probably will sandwich my head between two pillows if the noise levels are very high. This is a battle that the phone has been losing every morning for more than a month! When I do wake up with the pride of breaking the ego of a stupid device, get ready, and prepare to leave, I just notice that the phone eventually went mute because the battery went dead. My old Nokia "non-smart" phone was smart enough to understand that I'm a lazy prat, and it gives up 'alarming' after a while, saving a lot of battery power. Now expect me to start a thread in the QA section with a disguised user name: Need codse of java android app for alarm auto shut off in short time if no wakeup of the user?! URgentz plz!! :laugh:

Just whack the button to turn it off, roll over and get some decent sleep! My new Android phone is driving me nuts by running out of power when I'm not even using it. There are dozens of running apps, but I have no idea which are needed and which are optional. The manual stops just short of explaining...:suss:

Typical dev -- can't see the wood for the trees, so you go all around Robin Hood's barn, "fixing" unrelated issues that work properly and as designed. A proper analysis of the problem would reveal that the root cause is that you're a lazy bugger who doesn't want to get out of bed. The correct solution would involve wheels and a motor.

I loved the part about the seasoned professional. Though you still have to learn. When my alarm goes on, I get up extremely irritated, throw the phone or clock or radio.... away, and go back to sleep. Finally my PC starts the real show(many watts and decibels :rolleyes: ). And because it's too expensive I can't throw it away. :)

Well, I'm not married and I actually do get up occasionally because of the alarm. My complaint was mainly about how the alarm can't stop itself if nobody cares for it for a considerably long time (like twenty minutes). :)
