"Why winter no longer exists..."

    Just came across this gem: Winter has gone for ever and we should officially bring spring forward instead, one of the country’s most respected gardeners said yesterday. For climate change has wiped out the season of traditionally long, hard frosts and replaced it with brightly blossoming gardens bursting into flower months early. "It is a remarkable fact that despite the worldwide expenditure of perhaps US$50 billion since 1990, and the efforts of tens of thousands of scientists worldwide, no human climate signal has yet been detected that is distinct from natural variation." according to George Monbiot[^] who a couple of years ago was saying, "Winter is no longer the great grey longing of my childhood. The freezes this country suffered in 1982 and 1963 are - unless the Gulf Stream stops - unlikely to recur. Our summers will be long and warm. Across most of the upper northern hemisphere, climate change, so far, has been kind to us." I think Moonbat's quote belongs right up there with Hate is Love, War is Peace, and its obvious that he works alongside Orwell's Smith in the rewriting of history. Where, I wonder, were all the folks who now tell me that weather and climate are not related, four years ago when a couple of mild winters was hailed as absolute proof that the climate was going to hell in a handbasket? Memo to the Greenies: The Gulf Stream is still there.
"I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth. I have observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer." ~ Benj Franklin

The Moonbat had become so ranting, recomending that airline executives be thrown from planes, at altitude, that even among the middle ground of AGW believers he had become a joke. (Why he shold pick on executives rather than the workers who make the planes merely give away hos socialist classist tendencies) Anyway, he made a massive step down over the HADCRUT emails, even writing in the Guardian that he felt he had been lied to all these years and that GW was in fact a non event. Of course since then he hasnt been able to muster the same invective as of old so we dont hear much from him these days. In fact he recently chaired a fairly neutral debate about GW. Perhaps he realy has become a sceptic? The HADCRUT emails really were the final nail in the GW coffin. To have exposed such lies and collusion on top of worsening winters is about as much as the sickened corpse of GW can withstand.

You enjoy shooting fish in a barrel? Dr Taylor's comments on climate have no more credence than those of any layman. What does concern me is that the curator at Kew should come out with a remark like: "No one predicted winter was finished but these plants’ behaviour shows it has ended." No gardener he.

True, but his comments are jumped on by the press and used as yet more cause to adopt global socialism.

Well, if you believe the Daily Wail is a hotbed of global socialist propaganda, you had better seek treatment.

Your original link "Why Winter no longer exists" was published by the 'Depress' on 08-Feb-2008. It was "pounced on" by the 'Wail' ("Winter's dead and spring should be brought forward, says Kew Gardens"[^]) on 10-Feb-2008. The 'Eagle' comic ran a similar story ("How the blurring of the seasons is a harbinger of climate calamity"[^] - no mention of Kew or Dr Taylor) on 20-Mar-2008 - somewhat slow for a "pounce". Can't find any reference to Taylor's comments in the 'Grauniad'.

The 'Torygraph' ("Traditional seasons 'no longer exist'"[^]) on 07-Feb-2008. The 'Rats' ("Spring 'arrives even earlier'"[^]) on 10-Feb-2008. The 'Dirty Digger' ("Brits soak up early Spring"[^]) on 10-Feb-2008. Nothing in the Gruaniad and Dimmer, so the purveyors of alarmist global socialism crap were all 'right wing'. :suss:
