You should have gone to Specsavers.

If Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

Glasses are expensive here in the States as well. My wife and I spend about 800-1,000 for both of our glasses. And our glasses are not top of the line either.

You should have gone to India instead - this money could have covered your flight, two pair of glasses and lots of booze ;)

The only reason that I can think of for that sort of cost is that they are Functional Specs, especially if he wants to use a case. And that is based on this[^].

Glasses are not that expensive over here. Please tell me you have heard of America's Best? 2 Pairs for $70 including exam. Plus 2 tickets to the Harlem Globetrotters! Booya! My girlfriend goes there because she is uninsured.

Do you have the prescription? If so, I was pleased with Zenni Optical[^] It was a few years ago, but if I recall correctly I got two pairs of progressive lens / anti glare coatings / Titanium frame glasses for around $100. Two other places that I have not used: Goggles4u[^] Optical 4 Less[^]
