Finally got my Christmas present delivered; a new phone. Really you can't get the elves these days. You'd think that they would be used to snow by now, but no, two day delivery actually took nearly three weeks. It arrived the day before yesterday actually, but that day was full of setting it up and playing with it and yesterday was spent going to a show, family meals and hogmanay. It's only a J2ME touchscreen phone but it's got wifi and internet connectivity (including BBC iPlayer) so I'll be able to log in to CP and other favourite sites when I'm away on business. Yet to find a good browsing experience on a 3" screen. The in-built browser failed to load CP at all and the qwerty keyboard on Opera is painfully slow with my fingers being about three times the size of the so-called keys. On the other hand it's the first phone that I've had that I can actually program. Got the SDK and emulator, reading up on the API and Java and only have to choose what my first application is going to be - geek heaven

Interesting choice. What was it that made you decide on that one.

I wanted a pay as you go phone, since I'm away on business all week and I mainly use the work phone, so I couldn't justify a monthly account to get a top of the line phone. That meant that I had to buy one, and I wasn't prepared to pay more than a hundred pounds or so for what will mainly be a toy. 3G and Wifi was high on the list of required attributes - it came down to a choice between the one I got and an Android based one. Not sure I made the correct choice - the specs on this one was slightly better, although the android was attractive

A man after my own heart. :) From what I've seen of Android phones at that price point, I suspect that your selection will be a lot more durable.

I've had that problem with Opera for phones too, but I now have 2 browsers on my phone, Opera and Bolt[^]. I use the Bolt browser for websites that won't load in Opera. I would definitely recommend it :)
