Epicentre near Ripon, North Yorkshire. Some windows have been rattled, and a wardrobe door or two swung open. Measured 3.6 - this country is so boring.

Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.

lol yeah, don't think I've ever even felt any of the "earthquakes" here even when I've supposedly been pretty much right on the epicenter, yet for some reason the media makes a big deal out of it.

Given that the scale is logarithmic, you don't really want it to get much more exciting than that.

Queensland is quite exciting for some at the moment. An area 16 times the size of England is under water.

That wasn't an earthquake, just some local settling due to recent snow loads. Besides, anything less than a 7 isn't worth getting out of bed for.

Exciting not quite the word I would use at the moment! Wet is the word. I'm personally not badly affected - about the worst has been bogging my ride-on (oh-err!) and having the boy upset because he couldn't ride his Xmas pressie motorbike over Xmas - but it's heartbreaking for those that are.

Thanks for the concern, Ian. I didn't contribute enough last year (long story - had too many issues at work with the manager, quit the job, etc,.). I'm wanting to get back in action this year and will hopefully win it again next year. :)

According to the BBC news website, the epicentre was 9KM north east of Ripon. The annoying part of this - we live in the UK, we still use miles over here.

A few years ago I was living with my future wife and a mate who was lodging with us for a while when about 1 or 2 in the morning (we all worked silly hours) my missus was in the kitchen or upstairs and we were in the living room. She came in saying there had been a deep rumbling noise and vibration. We had felt nothing so said yeah yeah, it was probably the lesbians next door (as we had two at that time, semi-detached) starting up their petrol powered dildo. Good laugh, go to the front door for a smoke when next door opens too, the lesbians peer out and one asks "Did you feel that? It went drrrrrrrrr". Well my mate who had just had a mouthful of coffee spat it clear across the front lawn.
