To all the MVP's out there, looks like the participant reputation points have finally been increased by 1,000. That makes me gold. Another 400 or so and I'll be platinum. :cool: And on a side note, it would be nice if SQL had a += operator.

Whooo! So it has - that makes me Gold as well, I thought I would need the rest of this year to get there!
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

I think it may depend upon what/whose SQL you are using. IANAE, but I think PostgreSQL may support what you are looking for. See here[^]. :)

On an extra side dish, how about a
++
operator? :) -

As points go, the Participant category is the least credible. The score there is entirely arbitrary and meaningless, as mine hasn't moved since it's inception and represents less than 10% of what it actually should display. Either that, or the description is wrong. Maybe it should say a point is earned for each 1000 comments posted, or 200 surveys answered.

As much I know, based on the FAQ, Participant points are calculated from year 2009. Since then logins, winners, comments and surveys are awarded as said. Apart from that, sign-up 100 is by default added to everyone irrespective of joining year. Any news-letter feed if opted, and any competition winning - whenever it be, should be awarded and accounted for. Thus, SignUp points + news-letter + Competition winning + Sign-in since 2009 + comments in Q&A made - should sum up to current 'Participant' rep-score.

I didn't get MVP until I was already platinum. They must have lowered the standards again. :-D I thought the they had corrected last year's error.
