Hi I submitted my blog as a technical blog and a few posts on it came through to this site. They all were edited, some more than others. For the most part I don't have a problem with it except when it's a negative edit. In this case the editor messed up the syntax highlighting of the post. I'd just like to know the reasons for the edit, since the syntax highlighting in the original was correct and I'm inclined to roll it back. I'm not sure if anyone can see the original version but it's at tthis link: http://www.codeproject.com/script/Articles/ListVersions.aspx?aid=142578[^]

You should really be asking this in the Bugs & Sugs Forum[^], although I've no doubt your question will be spotted by one of the hamsters.

Sean Ewington edited it. Ask him about it in the bugs/sufggestions forum.

I often think people edit posts for no other reason than to get rep points: very often the edit is wrong or makes things worse.

Judicious Editing is difficult. I edit things for clarity but make sure that nothing is lost.

Yes, but you are almost literate with a vague understanding of wot has been writ. :) Many editors are not and change no more than a full stop or a space or whatever to elicit the man points rather than to improve the question (many of which are unintelligible anyway).

Especially where articles are concerned, because to earn the two measly points, you have to edit 10% of the article. That's REALLY hard to do when you're simply adding pre tags or something else that enhances readability instead of conducting a wholesale content change.

I've looked at the revisions on this article; in a lot of cases, they were edited to remove the dodgy html in them, e.g. in one place there's an <hr / tag. Sean has removed this. In other areas, the formatting has been altered to bring it more into line with the look and feel of CP.

I very much agree. The worst part is they don't even mark it as a 'Minor Edit'. X|
