Any freelance code writer here?

I know how to program but, i don't know how to find people that might need my service. How exactly does one finds people or companies that need freelance programmers? I really don't know where to look :(
If you are happy to sell your soul and code on the cheap, you could try rentacoder. Alternatively, you might want to look into contract development.

Best is to go to an employment agency. Specify you are only interested in contract work.

Best is to go to an employment agency. Specify you are only interested in contract work.
The problem with me is that i have taught myself how to code. I do not a paper that can prove that i can code yet that is what i do everyday whole day :(

Some of the best programmers are self taught and have no degree. You might consider doing some pro bono work for a charity so that you have evidence of your skills to show to agencies.

The problem with me is that i have taught myself how to code. I wonder if an agency would give a contract to a person that just claims he can code but has no papers to prove it. I know i ask too many questions but, how exactly can i find those agencies? I am busy trying to see if there is anything on google :)

From what i understand ,i just have to find a charity that needs a code writer. Sounds like it is gonna take a while. I will try to find one though :)

You are a self taught programmer! Do you do freelance work? If yes, how did you start?

If you cannot prove in paper, do something about it. I mean certifications are something that will speak on paper for you. :) Alternatively, depending on your skills, you could write Articles, Blogs, browser add-ons, mobile apps, etc, just to prove you can do something!

Try vWorker (earlier RentaCoder) or some agency. Basically you will need to build up contacts through agencies or social networks (real social network, i.e. meeting actual people not facebook). Try and ask some of your friends, relatvies etc who might know someone who need a freelance programmer. You might have to do some jobs on the cheap or for free initially to build this up.

Yes, you have papers to prove it. Print out your source code on paper :-D Seriuosly, I agree with you that it's hard to get the 1st contract.

Well, what I did is write a lot of articles and developed contacts both here on CP and various coworkers from current and previous companies that I worked for. It takes a while, no doubt about that, but it's well worth the effort! Marc
