I love the customer review by "Peachy". The audio engineer who thinks this is worth it because "the bass is more punchy". COME ON YOU MORON!! It's a DIGITAL SIGNAL carrying data to tell a computer how to recreate the sound! Compare that to a $6 cable and the data gets there the same way! Yeah, I know it was a bogus review. It starts out legit sounding though.

        (1) Among audiophiles, "more punchy bass through better data cable" is one of the less esoteric explanations. If you want to have fun with them, get thewm to talk about power cables, or how to solder connections. (2) At the data rates, "digital" is a relative word. We have some experience with USB, the audio protocols are without checksum, and cables are a good competitor in the "reasons for signal errors". (Still, there's nothing to gain beyond $20).

But 1975 users only gave it a User Satisfaction Rate of 98.71%, so the jury's still out.

You'll be surprised what people's ears will hear, if you suggest something to them. The guy next door to me is into this kind of "technology". His speakers are taller and weigh more than me, and he could have bought a new car for what he spent on his cabling. His amp might or might not go up to 11, but he never sets it above 2 -- so the whole thing (which takes up a fair chunk of his real estate) is just for background music.

Why can't people have sensible obsessions, like Tomb Raider or Firefly?

I always ask why I should pay big bucks for a sound system when I have to listen to it through a free set of ears

Yeah, I knew a guy like that from high school. Had a finished basement in his parents house and the sound system was setup PERFECTLY. Everything last inch of cable in it's place and equalized just so. If anyone touched anything, he lost his mind. He wouldn't happen to be from the Detroit area, would he? Last name Bommarito?

Nah, this guy's Dutch -- but it sounds like that may share some genes.
