Of course the alternative involves a bear skin rug, a raging fire and... Exactly. Unfortunately: 1. I live in a trailer home (no fire place) 2. A bear skin rug wouldn't fit in my living room (and I don't have one) 3. My girlfriend had to go to work today! 4. My son wants to go and play out in the snow! 5. At 3:15, my girlfriend has gum surgery! This is not the day for "..."!!! Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

I'm in central Connecticut and we have 8 inches of snow here. I have a Ford Mustang and couldn't get out of my apartment complex (which is on a steep hill) this morning. So, I plugged my laptop into my DSL and am working from home. I you want to call this working :) Brigg Thorp Software Engineer Timex Corporation

...as a Canadian, let me point out that, with a little under a month to go, what makes you think it'll still be around by Christmas? Here in Ottawa we've been having snow on and off since early November (rather early, compared to what we usually get around here I must say). Right now there's no snow on the ground (well, ok, hardly any). Live cam: http://www.canada.com/ottawa/ottawacitizen/specials/parliamentcam.html[^]

Well, the rental situation here in RI is terrible. Hard to find places, then really expensive (>$1000 / month for two bedroom place). When I moved here, I didn't know if I was going to stay and what the consulting situation was like, so I didn't want to buy a house (and I'm really tired of throwing my money at landlords). So intead, I bought a nice trailer home for $16,500 (US), now I only pay $300/month for land use and that leaves the park owner responsible for all outside things: septic, water, electricity, road PLOWING, etc. It works out well. It's in a nice trailer park and I'm surrounded by mostly retired people, so their nice and quiet. The place is small enough to be easily maintained yet big enough for myself, my girlfriend, and my son. Also, we're far enough back from the main road that it's really quiet at night--no street noises. There's a lot of houses where that isn't true (can you tell I really treasure quiet). Where I live has cable Internet access, so that's another beni. You're not "nuts to butts" like in an apartment, but there's a nice sense of community--everyone knows each other. I can forget to lock the door and not worry about it because I know my neighbhors will be looking out for me. Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

:-D We went shopping yesterday to stock up on Tylenol and Motrin (this is her second go around so we know the ropes) and bought two big containers of organic vanilla yoghurt! Flowers--great idea! Thanks! Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

Which is rare out here along the coastline in Rhode Island USA. One of my son's Christmas wish list things was "a snowy Christmas". I guess he got his present early! Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

I hate snow. Your son is welcome to have all the snow we get, and then some. :brrrrr: That's why I ramble so much. ...as a Canadian, let me point out that, with a little under a month to go, what makes you think it'll still be around by Christmas? Here in Ottawa we've been having snow on and off since early November (rather early, compared to what we usually get around here I must say). Right now there's no snow on the ground (well, ok, hardly any). Live cam: http://www.canada.com/ottawa/ottawacitizen/specials/parliamentcam.html[^]

Yeah.. but I spent a good while scrapping all the damn ice off my car on Monday morning due the nice weekend snowstorm. And it only gets worse. <sarcasm>I just can't wait until Jan/Feb </sarcasm> when the *real* storms hit. :brrr: That's why I ramble so much.
