Hey all, who can I talk to about starting reactivating a phone that I already have. It seems like all the plans out there, except pre-paid, require you to purchase a new phone, which I don't want to do. And the pre-paid plans are rediculously priced, at best. $10 for 20 minutes? :wtf: No thanks. Jamie Nordmeyer Portland, Oregon, USA

Wow, what about the company you had it active with? Have you tried them? Regards, Alvaro

Well, the PrePaid rate that I gave was AT&T's rate. When I got the phone, it was through AT&T, but it was on the company's dime. I got to keep the phone (one of the standard Nokia's that you see everybody walking around with), and just want to reactivate it myself. Jamie Nordmeyer Portland, Oregon, USA

Most of the companies I have heard about will give you a better deal on a plan if you have your own phone. I usually always get a new phone but I've had friends who have used old phones on new plans. The one thing you have to worry about is whether your phone will work on the new company's systems. Some phones are locked to a certain company and some phones don't support the right networks. What company did you have before? Try them first, I would think. Where are you at in Portland? Good luck, steve

Jamie Nordmeyer wrote: $10 for 20 minutes WHACK !! That sounds toatlly overpriced. The only reason I could imagine that would drive prices up that high, would be limited spectrum. (I don't think this a real prob anywhere) I only know the NZ marketplace, but the economic models that the telcos use, sometimes appear ridiculously illogical. Peak Time during the day 8am-5pm I can understand why it is more expensive. But some of their other stuff just seems crazy. SMS, texting has really taken off now, and most traffic is being converted to that. I think you can get it for US .05c a message now. Regardz Colin J Davies

I was on an AT&T plan originally. I don't recall which plan exactly. Steven Lyons wrote: Where are you at in Portland? Work in Portland, live in Beaverton. Jamie Nordmeyer Portland, Oregon, USA
