How many guys still use watch to know the time? Nowadays time is available all around you especially if you own a mobile phone/mp3 player etc. Personally I wear watch and see now and then during discussion to show my displeasure at time managment

An Edifice 527D[^], a G-Shock Classic[^], a Levi Strauss dual time, and an UCB (Benetton). The last two are designer watches, and the first two are more serious ones.

The Edifice series is for gentlemen (don't ask me why do I have one). So, you shouldn't expect those to last longer with rough usage. However, if you have to talk about toughness, take a look at some of the videos[^] in the G-Shock site. It will kick military grade's ass. :)

Just took delivery of this[^] Linde Werdelin 3 Timer today. Haven't even unpacked it yet. It's not really about telling the time. It's about owning a piece of mechanical engineering and craft-work. Okay, this particular watch is not about the movement but more about design.

Here! Find it more convenient than to reach for my phone, pull it out of the holster and checking the time... wristwatch just needs a quick glance and that's it , can't be beat. -- RP

Definitely a watch - it's not just about telling the time, it's about having a quality piece of engineering. In general, I don't think that men should wear jewellery (apart from a wedding band) so a watch is the only thing you can really wear to show off a bit of style. I bought an Omega Seamaster[^] - not the cheapest thing in the world (and pretty much my most prized possession) but definitely worth it.

I'm never comfortable without my watch. If I forget it it'll bother me all day, even tho I take it off as soon as I get into the office and leave it beside my monitor. I'm not particular about quality engineering, but I do want certain things from a watch: 1. Chunky metal strap - fine metal straps keep catching the hair on my arm and plastic or leather straps make me sweat and wear out too quickly. The chunky metal strap is uncomfortable when sitting at a keyboard all day tho. 2. I like an analog face with actual numbers (not just a mark) on 12, 3 and 9 at least, and with a digital display built in too. The last couple of watches I've bought have been Casios and they've been on the lower end of the price spectrum. I do tend to take my watch off and fiddle with it, which drives my GF up the walls. :)

                                        Pete

How many guys still use watch to know the time? Nowadays time is available all around you especially if you own a mobile phone/mp3 player etc. Personally I wear watch and see now and then during discussion to show my displeasure at time managment

Definitely a watch, I don't feel dressed without one.
