So, while i was offshore, the faulty new telly was to be collected and returned to Amazon. I arranged the collection with DHL for the day i was going offshore, the wife was going to be in in the afternoon, so no great shakes. The guy from DHL turns up, and takes one look at the box, says its too big, and he's not taking it, will have to come back when he has assistance from someone. After a couple of days still no call from DHL to arrange collection attempt number 2. Nadia calls DHL and arranges a time, filled the guy in on the details so they now know its a bulky item and requires 2 guys to lift. No sign of them on agreed collection day, still no calls again, Nadia phones them up, agrees attempt number 3, again no turn up. Phone again, and got some excuse about availability of tail lift vehicles blah blah, and sets up and agrees collection number 4. Shock, they didn't turn again. Now raging she's phones DHL and gives them an earful, in the end she arrange via my cousin to have the TV collected from the house by our own haulage company, and have the telly delivered to DHL! She was fed up of the massive box sitting in the hall. Amazon have now acknowledge receipt of the new faulty telly and processing the refund. So today was delivery day for the replacement new telly. :) Back of lunchtime, the courier rang the door and said, 'Telly for you?', and toddled off to the van to get his mate and get the telly out of the back. I was watching them from the house and when i saw the state of the box, I was like :wtf: . It looked like it had been kicked round a carpark for a week, @rse hanging out of it, polystyrene falling out all over the place, and packing tape attempting to hold it all together was streaming off of it. The guy says, he is shocked at the state of it, and it should never have been loaded onto the van like that, and suggests it is checked before they disappear. So they peel the Telly out of the remains, lift it into the house. There is no apart damage to the bezel or no dents in the edges etc, but the screen is full of cracks, no surface cracks, but inside the plasma panel. I obviously rejects the delivery, and they take the remain bits away with them. Now just need to get in touch with Amazon to see what they are going to say this time.

We already live in Rip-Off Britain, elevated prices ,and customer service is not high on the agenda. Why should we continue to accept it. Email sent to contact at Concierge Team at Amazon where as they say; "The Concierge team strives to give personalised customer service of the highest caliber when you place a selected, high value, order." Just have to wait and see what he has to about it this time.

That strategy only works if what you want is available locally for pickup. I've had a few packages (eg 30" monitor) shipped that were only barely carryable by a single person (people with short arms probably couldn't). Over the holidays my parents had a new china cabinet delivered that was drop shipped from the factory after construction because none of the cheaper stuff that was stocked locally would look good with the rest of the furniture in the room. Being real furniture it came fully assembled, not a in flatpack; and would be almost impossible to get through a door without help.

I've bought a few used books/cds that were shipped from the UK using Royal Mail to USPO; and Royal Mail managed to hand all of them off to the USPO without difficulty. DHL couldn't even manage that consistently. I had a flash drive follow this[^] route about 2 years ago. All but the final leg were on DHL trucks. Not only did they initially ship it to a location about 2x as far from where I live as their nearest terminal, but instead of handing it off to the post there they instead shipped it even farther away.

a latest trick of rm is to send its delivery drivers out without the parcels but with "we called but you were out" notes which they stick though the letterbox, you should see the red face when you catch them and they have to admit the parcel is still in a sorting office someware

Here in England we have Several terrible delivery agents: ParcelFarce ShittyLink Ur Parcel Smashed (UPS) Didn't Hit Lightly (DHL) All are pretty unreliable to deliver a product that is fragile in 1 piece, as was proven several years ago by BBC's Watchdog.

I'm guessing they never returned the unit you sent back, just kept it in the warehouse and let the crew ram it a few times with the forklift, then delivered it back to your house. The replacement Amazon sent is probably in the warehouse supervisor's living room.

                              Will Rogers never met me.

Perhaps you should change your CP user name to Telly Sagalas. :-D
