I like the weekends...

...because at least I'm not at work. It's just been mental the last 2 months. I can't remember the last time I worked less than a 12 hour day, starting at 7am with a 15 minute break for lunch and frequently finishing between 7-8pm, then a nice long drive home. The project is now losing money, lots of money, and its all because the lady loves milktray. Ohhh, wait, no it isn't, it's all because the software that was outsourced is a total bag of untested hacked together inconsistent shite. So now I'm rewriting parts of it, and generally bitching and moaning constantly - hoping that someone might actually listen and change the way projects are run in the future. But from what I hear no one has learnt anything - and outsourcing the development is still on the cards for other projects. And since we've been doing all this testing, modules that used to work now don't because things have mysteriously changed. So it's good to know that all this extra time I've spent at work hasn't been wasted. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to when the client comes to inspect and test the system in a few weeks time. I've bought a nice big pot of Vaseline just for the occasion. X|

Ugh. I remember those days. As soon as you can find someplace better, jump ship. It's the only sane thing to do.

You mean him working 12 hours a day is keeping him employed AND justifying jobs being outsourced. Management will only see work being delivered and them cutting costs by outsourcing. After checking his location I can see that people in UK might have to sacrifice comfort to keep their jobs, at least in the next few years. But how would we know if outsourcing will not make things worse for people in the UK?

Outsourcing has done wonders for the US economy. Just look at 2008 and '09 for examples.

Same experience in the last project I worked on. Management eventually decided that pulling the plug was the cheapest option, even though it included a fat penalty fee to the company that never managed to get a working version of the product we were paying them for.
I must get a clever new signature for 2011.
