Food Crisis may lead to more insurrection[^] I have been say this for ages, and it could be soon that a few more countries have their citizens get 'uppity' about the price of food. As the article states, one bad harvest could be the trigger.

"Countries that depend upon food imports and whose people spend one-third or more of their income on food are most vulnerable to increased global food prices, according to an analysis by Japanese investment firm Nomura. In its top 10 are Egypt, Algeria and Morocco, but also Hong Kong, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Tunisia, Romania and Ukraine are in the top 20. "High food prices… [are] a potential source of protests, riots and political tension," Nomura warns." Hong Kong? Ok, the analyst has no idea what he/she is talking about ... :)

Wouldn't worry too much about Romania or Ukraine, afaik (well, I know for sure about RO but not entirely certain about Ukraine) there are millions of acres of high quality land that grow weeds for now or need irrigation systems rebuilt - yes, they've bloody stolen all the pipes. If push comes to shove I'm quite certain it will become profitable to use all that land.

They're pretty close: "They say that every society is only three meals away from revolution. Deprive a culture of food for three meals, and you'll have an anarchy. And it's true, isn't it? You haven't eaten for a couple of days, and you've turned into a barbarian!" (Atcherley, I think it was Trotsky who said it originally, but he wasn't so much fun.)

I am strongly considering purchasing a working ranch as part of my retirement divestments(yes, I meant this word for effect considering my other 'investments')

I hear you brother. But there a way that nature compensates for over population, it is called famine.

I was thinking the same. The both countries have too little population for their natural resources and in fact their major exports are food. So this analysis is not to be taken seriously.
