[Updated] Which security solution do you swear by?

It so happens that my license for Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 ran out about 2 days back. I'm pondering about getting the 2011 version instead of renewing my own. A friend suggested McAfee and some other name which I forgot. Which ones do you people use? I'm open to suggestions. Suggestions: Kaspersky 2011(mine), Trend Micro, NOD32 and Microsoft Security Essentials as of now. Thank You!

Ahh yes! NOD32. That was the one he suggested. Although if MSE is as close to being good compared to a commercial one then I think I'll be giving it a try first. :)

My recommendation is for NOD32, I have had a good experience with it, both at work and at home. Non-intrusive, small footprint, and effective.
Jack of all trades ~ Master of none.
Thanks. Is NOD32 a commercial software or a free one? I don't seem to remember my friend giving me the inside details of this one. I don't mind either since all I care about is the quality. :) EDIT: Didn't notice that Rajesh had mentioned NOD32 as commercial. Sorry about that.

Sounds like a plan! I wonder how CG would react to a piece of Microsoft software being treated so well!

Exactly the same here. Never used this AV crap, hopefully never will. Just a properly configured Firewall (Outpost 4). 99% of all security problems are caused by stupidity.

True in most cases yes. It's good that you have a Firewall at least. That would prevent most attacks on you from the Internet. :)

OK, I had a problem 10 years ago with this blaster worm thingie. I just restored my Ghost disk image and the problem was solved in 10 minutes.

I swear by MSE. I have sworn at Norton and AVG. Interestingly, I have just finished reading a comparative review of AV suites and the 'N POS' came second and AVG third. So, either I am a bad judge, or they have improved out of all recognition in their most recent incarnations. The winner was Trend BTW.

I forgot the exact website where they used to compare all of the products every year (or was it every month?). That one had a detailed explanation of all suites. Maybe the one you're talking about? I used to use AVG for about a year like 2 years back. Was somewhat okay but not quite up to the mark. Norton however has quite a name for itself.

This one was a magazine review. I know paper and ink is a bit old fashioned but I'm that sort of guy.
