Diet soda raises heart attack risk
-
Diet soda may be a wise choice for those who are keen to look after their health, but a new study has claimed that sugar-free fizzy drinks could actually raise the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Doctors have no chemical or biological explanation for why diet soda may be risky. It could be that people who drink lots of it also fail to exercise, weigh more, drink more alcohol or have other risk factors like high blood pressure and smoking. However, the researchers took these and many other factors into account and didn’t see a change in the trend. “According to this study, drinking diet fizzy drinks on a regular basis could pose the same or even higher risk for cardiovascular disease as standard fizzy drinks, providing a word of warning to those who often opt for diet versions in order to be ‘healthy’.” “Everyone can reduce their risk of stroke by consuming a balanced diet and exercising regularly,” Earlier studies have tied diet and regular soda consumption and greater risk of diabetes and a group of weight-related problems. So don't take Diet soda regularly. it is very harmful for health.

While posting something like this, it's considered good practice to link back to the article. :)

Okay. :) If that newspaper has a website, then probably this might be over there as well. I asked you to post it since people will be interested to read a full article rather than just a gist of it.

Adding the link would be proper, but I like your approach a lot, too. It was thoughtful of you to translate, and your English is very good. By the way, I completely agree with the research. I've long been convinced that excessive consumption of artificially sweetened beverages will cause one to become an artificial diabetic, requiring a lifetime of dependency on synthetic insulin to survive. It's my belief that drinking bubbly beverages of any kind causes cavitation in the arteries, which breaks loose chunks of arterial plaque and sends them willy-nilly into the heart where they can cause heart attacks. That's why I only drink coffee and alcohol. The coffee speeds the blood to the brain when I need it during the day to outguess the random whims of management, and evade any meaningful, tedious assignments. The alcohol, being an excellent solvent, must surely dissolve said plaque deposits and scoot them safely through the heart and into the brain, where they are converted to new neurons to replace the weak ones that are killed off by the alcoholic drinks. This leads to a continuous renewal of brain function, and probably will retard or halt completely the onset of dementia. That's my theory, and I haven't seen any clinical proof that it's in any way unsound. If you hear of anyone running trials on the subject, I'll be happy to volunteer for a large lump sum of cash and a lifetime stipend to be negotiated.

Here.[^] The most remarkable part of the article is that they actually suggested that people not take a pilot unpublished epidemiological study too seriously. The cynic in me wonders if that's less about improving science/health reporting and more the editors not wanting to offend the advertisers. Still, miracles can happen.

I've seen many magazines where they talk about health on one side of the page. And then you have the ad for the fizzy drinks on the other side. ;P

Exactly. I too can read Kannada, Tamil and Hindi . I can't read only the Telgu in south Indian language. My way of reading also may be different, as Rajesh Said.
