Has anyone else been experiencing Win7/64 freezing up for a seconds at a time? It started for me a week or so ago, and they're starting to migrate our machines at work to Win7, and those machines are seeing it happen.

Yes, frequently, but only when opening favo(u)rites on IE9 Beta. It appears to have stopped now I have installed IE9 RC.

Also, I don't know if it can be an antivirus problem. I'm using NOD32, and I've noticed that it's quite sluggish at times, especially if you start up hte computer without internet access.

Keep Task Manager open to Processes tab, and check what's at top of list (sort by CPU %).

Do you have Carbonite installed? I have been having a problem since they released the latest version. Everything was fine up to that point.

It's not always the CPU. Most times when I have a computer that grinds to a halt it's because something is blocking the hard drive.

Hmm, nope... I run Weven64* at home, and haven't noticed anything like that. Might only happen when running on a network domain. * I still like calling it Weven... I'm waiting for Weight to come out, so we can crack jokes about how bloated it is... Then Wine, so we can laugh about how drunk the MS programmers must have been when they released that piece of garbage... And Wen... Well... That'll be their first vaporware OS.

I have Windows 7 freezing up and i leave it for minutes and hour sometimes, and then it gets back to normal. Usually, i have to hard-reset it, when i not patient enough to wait for more than 5 minutes

I have a windows service that does that for me - running on four other boxes. When they're all running, I get a result about every 3 seconds... :)

Mine does it, but this is caused by the HDD going to sleep after a period of inactivity. I can hear it spin back up and things are fine again.

Has anyone else been experiencing Win7/64 freezing up for a seconds at a time? It started for me a week or so ago, and they're starting to migrate our machines at work to Win7, and those machines are seeing it happen.

Mostly when I think I'm swapping (Commit charge > physical memory); since it happens much more frequently at work when I'm trying to run 7-8GB of apps and windows insists on keeping one of my 4GB of ram free, than when I only have 4-5GB of commit at work, or 6-7 at home with 6GB physical and windows insisting on keeping about 1GB free, and almost never when I only have 4-5GB of commot.... I've been promised an 8gb upgrade at work as soon as they get around to buying it; and am debating going to 12GB now at home vs waiting until I build my new system (presumed LGA2011) and stuffing 16Gb into it.

Win7 is quite ok but Visual Studio freezes all the time!

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

I've experienced it locking up completely. Not sure what's been causing it, but touch wood it hasn't happened in a while. At first I thought it was Chrome (there have been reports of this), but I think that's a red herring.

I've seen it in mine that when I'm storin files to a HDD that has been stopped for a while it freezes for a couple of seconds and then it starts working again. HTH!
