I have a question on StackOverflow that I believe was unjustly closed by a clique that seems to think it may police SO. Please don't feel obliged, but I'm asking anyone that may feel that way inclined to help me vote to get it re-opened. I think I only need 2 votes.

I dont understand that question. Is that related to programming?

Yes, in that it's about an algorithm that will be used in a program. Imagine I said a sort algorithm used in sorting mail isn't programming related, but rather it's mail related.

IMO it does not belong on SO.
Watched code never compiles.

Why not? It concerns a fairly commonly used type algorithm used in financial programming.

And nothing is. This is related to a question, elsewhere, that is related to programming.

I'm tempted to agree with the 'closers' on this as I do not see that is a programming question. As far as I understand the question you seem to be asking for a ruling on how to check if a policy is in arrears. I suspect the answer may depend on which company wrote the policy in the first place.
I must get a clever new signature for 2011.

I'm asking about an aging alsorithm that I will apply to an LOB app for policies. The algorithm can, with minor changes, be adapted to a wide variety of systems dealing with monthly payments.

I read through your post twice. I still fail to see a question there. There needs to be more specifics or people are really just guessing at what you are after. :)
Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is. [Yogi Berra] posting about Crystal Reports here is like discussing gay marriage on a catholic church’s website.[Nishant Sivakumar]

The question is the sentence ending with a question mark, v.i.z. the last sentence before the italicised essence of my proposed algorithm. :)

What if I asked about an algorithm to see if a number is prime?
Would have gone through, because it's a common programmers problem. (I don't make the rules, and I don't try to apply formal logic to them.) Your question is a question about the specification IMO, better answered by the customer.

As I said before, the wording of your question implies that it could be better answered by people in the insurance industry rather than techies on SO or even CodeProject. However, that is my interpretation of what you wrote and may not have been what you actually meant.
I must get a clever new signature for 2011.

I didn't say about "this" thread, but "that" thread on SO, which is NOT related to programming (which should be). "This" thread is not related to programming, as simple as that!
