Plastic bags are better for the environment than any other 'green' alternative[^].

I'm not a "go green" guy. However, the answer to assessing environmental impact of paper and plastic bags depend on when you assess the impact. If plastic is reused, then it's really good as we don't have to manufacture a lot of paper or cotton bags. But after disposal, cotton or paper bags will completely decay and won't pollute in any way. However, plastic will NOT decay. Here's an excerpt from the bottom of the linked article: Millions of tons of plastic have ended up in the world’s oceans. The plastic gradually breaks down into smaller and smaller fragments, with catastrophic effects on marine life.

I think it collects north of Hawaii, there's a kind of ocean whirlpool where trash from around the world collects.

Please don't say that, I've already made a commitment to my 'bag for life'.

And it's whole lot less hassle having a bag instead of a wife.

I got distracted by the waste-to-power plant with the ski slope on it, linked on that page.
