Chrome WTF! [modified]
-
I have been a happy Chrome user since FireFlops let me down several months back. One really nice thing about Chrome is the integrated PDF viewer. One really crap thing about Chrome is the fact that you cant copy text from the PDF. :wtf: :omg: So now I have to open the PDF in Adope anyways.... :sigh: Update: User error :^) Thanks to DaveAuld pointing it out :)

Just switch to linux and open it with open office, so much easier.

Does the functionality offered by OpenOffice on Linux differ from the Windows version?

Yea it works without crashing ;)

Ah, so Windows has a bonus feature. That makes Windows the obvious choice. :)

Sure, I'll just: 1. Start VirtualBox 2. Open Ubuntu VM 3. Load page in Fireflops 4. Wait for Fireflops to stop hanging 5. Copy text 6. Send clipboard text in email to myself 7. Shutdown VM 8. Exit VirtualBox 9. Check email on Windows 10. Copy text from email So simple and elegant!

LOL Windows running Linux  I bet that is fast and crash free.

I had my doubts about this, and just tried it. And managed to copy text from a pdf file viewed in Chrome 9.0.597.98 and pasted it into word.

Interesting. I tried it too. Also there is no 'Copy' command in the context menu. Let me try again, maybe the random PDF I tried was secured or something along those lines :)

In fact, it is :) Allocated 4 cores and 1GB RAM, Ubuntu flies. Clean kernel compile for Android in about 5 mins. I know some people with dedicated Linux boxes taking longer on the same task ;P

You are correct! It works on another PDF, also got copy in context menu. Opening the PDF in Adope confirms it is indeed a SECURED PDF.

Yes, it is. I have as many as four VMs open at a time, all with different operating systems (mainly variants of linux). I only have problems when I open adobe products, "install-our-wonderful-software-before-plugging-in-your-phone" garbage, or open-source cr@pware like eclipse. You can't blame Windows for the failings of third parties. You've really got to stop believing all the linux-evangelist billshut you read on the Interweb.

Your Welcome.......... Don't you just hate it when things like that happen! (not as bad as the VS2010 fail by whoever it was yesterday!)
