Amazon.com Links Rant
-
The blogs I read and the people I follow on twitter often post links to interesting books, or other things that can be found amazon. However, I live in the UK and the majority of links I find are to Amazon.com, which means I have to open a new tab, load up Amazon.co.uk, and search for the title of the iteresting item before I can do something useful, like add it to my wishlist... Far too many actions for my liking. OK, so this is a minor annoyance really, but it happenes to me regularly enough that I finally decided to google it. The only problem being that as soon as you type 'amazon' into a search engine, all of your other search parameters end up just digging up obscure DVD and book titles. I'm sure I managed to find a way to make this less annoying before, but I've forgotton what I used to do.

If you suffix your search with "site:amazon.co.uk" then Google will limit it to just that one site. Is that what you were after?

You can usually just change the URL in the menu bar from .com to .co.uk - the only times this hasn't worked for me is if the item isn't listed in the uk. i.e. http://www.amazon.com/Code-Complete-Practical-Handbook-Construction/dp/0735619670/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299068536&sr=8-1[^] and http://www.amazon.co.uk/Code-Complete-Practical-Handbook-Construction/dp/0735619670/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299068536&sr=8-1[^]

Have you tried putting amazon.co.uk in your favourites?

Ahhhh! Fantastic! That's exactly what I was looking for! Feel a bit embarrassed for asking...it seems so obvious now. Thank you :)
Ben.
Now write a little browser add-in that does exactly that, then give us an article about it! :)
