One of the coolest things I've seen in a while.

    I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.

Am I wrong or are they working with a tool that looks like captain Kirk's phaser at the beginning?

Extremely sad that this will be a much more rare occurrence very soon. :rose: to man in space for the time being.

The Shuttle is an old horse, like it or not. It even still had some of my favorite processors onboard (CDP1802). But take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVsgSjm_vXg&feature=relmfu[^]

On March 4, they will launch the X-37b Minishuttle for the second time. Should be interesting as well. You might want to bookmark the link in my original post, since NASA is going to show that launch there, as far as I know. Looking forward to that. I saw Discovery myself just the other week on the launch platform, when I was at Kennedy Space Center. Well, you actually didn't see the orbiter itself from the observation tower of LC-39 since it was hidden by the launch construction, but you could see the top of the orange main tank and the reusable boosters. I regret that I had to leave the States a few days before the final launch. :(

Did you make any bids on any parts or computers from the other shuttles after they were essentially decommissioned?

The X-37 is pretty darn cool, though, sadly it's unmanned. I remember the breaking news story when it was launched semi-secretly in April last year. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about it being an Air Force project now either. I do wish I had seen a shuttle launch while possible, too.

Two chances left: Endeavour on the 19th of April and Atlantis on the 28th of June. I am really considering going back to the States in June to see the final launch of Atlantis. Maybe if I can take some days of and get a cheap flight...

I might just try to make it for Atlantis. I only have 2 vacations days until May 1st.

No. I probably would not have gotten them anyway.

Oh, I just red, that the last launch of Atlantis isn't sure at all. And I definitely can't fly over for the Endeavour-launch :( So no more chance for me. modified: Now, depends on where I have a look, some sources say, there will be a final Atlantis-launch, some say, it's doubtful.
