    Bad idea: perhaps use jquery[^] and a plug-in[^] to accomplish the same thing.

          Rather than using ModalPopupExtender, you can simply use alert.

              That type of message box "pops up" on the server, not on the client. Nobody will be there to close it. And the program is not further executed until the message box is closed. When you want to inform the user with some kind of pop-up message, the javascript alert function is appropriate.
