Ah yes. I see it now. Darn. :-O Yesterday's CCC was very very difficult. Today's was average (except for the ISS bit).

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

I am surprised that so many people got it so quickly.

In my case it comes from having a son who is into ancient Greek and Roman history (and from reading too many Asterix books) :)

Janissary is a Christian charged with Guarding the Muslim Sultans from the 1300's to the 1800's, hardly Greek or Roman! :) Incidentally, the Sultans chose christians for this, because they didn't trust other muslims not to kill them, christians could never become Sultan so it was safer. In the same way, I suppose, that the key to the church of the holy sepulchre in the wailing wall in Jerusalem is not held bt the christians whose church it is, or the jews, whose wall it is, but by the muslims, to stop the other two fighting over it.

Griff, NEVER assume I get it wrong. I have, on occasions, made mistakes, I admit it, but generally I double check before promulgation. If it looks odd, it usually is meant to! :)

That inclination of his and my interest in computers lead us to play many many computer games and I think it is very likely that Janissary is used in an RTS of some sort - Age Of Empires springs to mind - can anyone confirm if Janissary appears in that game?

YES! - answered my own question - Google is my friend :) (even though I'm old my memory isn't failing me) A Janissary is a heavy Infantry unit in both Age of Empires II and Age of Empires III. In its first appearance it is the unique unit for Turks and likewise for Ottomans in the sequel but used as more regular and basic infantry while still being unique as well.

In my case it comes from excess of time spent on the Age of Empires.
