So, it been two days since the unveiling. What are your thoughts? Good, bad, otherwise? Anyone planning to get one? I ask because I have an autistic daughter; she is very adept at using an IPod touch, this will give her a bigger canvas to work with. Tim

IPad 2 - best thing you can get this year. Go n grab it with both hands. It's fantastic, it's fast and most importantly - it works :)... I am planning to buy one next week.

The two paragraphs don't really work together, do they?

Beat me to it. It comes out on March 11. So everyone's quoting on hearsay.

Because the first implies you have been comprehensively using it. The second shows you haven't - not surprising, since they aren't out yet.

Definitely on the want list, though rumours are that iPad 3 is out after summer with the Retina display.

I've got an iPad and I have to say it's by far the most used device we've ever had. My 9 year old daughter uses it to do math flashcards along with many of her "adopt-a-something" websites. There are some that don't work because they use flash, but for the most part that hasn't been as much of a problem as I thought it would be. She also watches Netflix on it. The new one is appealing more because of the apps that will take advantage of the new processor and graphics speed. I expect the games will have more complex graphics. I think if I were in your shoes I'd be more tempted to take advantage of the price decrease for the original iPad's. $150 off for a refurbished one? I'm even thinking of getting a couple more for work (it's been great for showing clients work we've done). Cheers, Drew.

Apple doesn't generally short cycle their releases like that, it undermines sales of the current generation. If they do get a retina display on a screen that size though... well, why the hell can't I have a monitor at that pixel density then? I feel like screen resolution has gone nowhere for 10 years. I blame HDTV and PC's thinking that HD resolution is good enough, whereas I was using something that would've qualified as today's "HD" in, what, 1996? Grumble. Whoah, tangent. Sorry.

I noticed a couple of places selling current iPads at $200 off - so now may be the time to buy one of them - except for the faster processor, who the f needs two cameras on an iPad?
