Did you know that you can make it work with HTML5? According to this[^] blogger, you can. Although why you would want to for IE6, and even IE7, remains a mystery. For those stuck on XP and therefore IE8, though, it might be worth giving it a go.

I suspect there will be a few, not through choice, but work reasons. I am FF.

I too am mainly FF but one of my boxes is still on XP and therefore limited to no higher than IE8. If you ever try visiting Microsoft Update[^] in FF you will be notified that IE is required in order to run it which is why I also have IE8 installed too. Not choice exactly but certainly not work. :)

Meh. Ctrl+F in a PDF? Finds nothing. Print a page with a RGB(254,254,254) background? Get really-black on wants-to-be-really-black-too. Just the stuff I hit today. (proudly posted in Chrome, no less)

Yeah, I keep a copy of IE on my PC for just that stupid purpose. Doesn't need HTML5, it's just MS being the usual...

The blogger is the author of the main post. I used that link because I have an account on the PCPro site and if I include a direct link it will have automatically logged me in, thereby giving others access to my account information. Thank you for taking the trouble though.

So when websites start supporting HTML5, are XP users in IE stuck if they don't use a solution like this? What happens when grandma running XP, who has never heard of Chrome and Firefox, tries to access an HTML5 site in IE 8?

It depends on how the site is written. Although if it is largely the new features she ain't gonna see very much.

When Google stops making their damn updater run constantly, I'll try Chrome again. (But each time I try it, I really don't like it.)
