As long as the community views your rant as valid and they can relate to it. If they don't....watch your rep points drop like a bad habit.

Well, I don't care about the rep points nor do I care if I piss someone off. I will speak the truth regardless of the consequences. You will find people who have high rep points who cry for losing few points here and there. Get over it and those univotes, however I and you might be disagreeing with their action, are exercising their basic right, To VOTE. Period. I can understand the way they use it might be unjustifiable, nonetheless, no one can have it both ways. I'll give you a hint on how to amass points, if you care about it. Just keep doing the right things, write and article, answer questions, get involved and forget about the points. Before you know it, your points will start piling up. Good Luck!

Shouldn't there be a limit as to how many times one jerkoff can downvote you? I pissed off some ass and he downvoted me like crazy...

Where did this occur? I didn't see any downvotes in your message history or answer history, so I'm confused as to where you received your platinum downvote.

          I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.

don't really want to point them out... it'd be nice to have those limits though, specially for those of us who are just recently becoming active, he knocked down a level on the "debator" category

You already have "pointed" them out. And usually a quick review of your recent messages will show the offending down votes, but that seems to be oddly missing in your case.

It was in the forum messages, not the Q&A... My "debator" rating plummeted in a short span, right after going back and forth with a platinum member...so I assume it was him (can be a bad assumption)

I am willing to learn either from you or anyone else, but the best solution I found so far is, just ignore them and don't mention it. You will see it go away in a day or two. The more you mention it the more attention you will grab. I can list you many instance that happen both to me and others as well. There are days I get up and find myself looking well over 100 points. Mind you this are for very old posts. Tell me how can I justify this. I just suck it and move on. The next day you make 200 points, Yeeeees!

I'm going out on a limb with this guess, but see this post[^]. I expect this has more to do with your debator points changing than a forum message downvote that can not be linked to. :)

i do believe i've received more points the past day on a rant than on legitimate answers! ...i am here to help though, i try not to be rude as well, so hopefully karma will be on my side... as you can see from my profile, i've only asked one question and none of my answers include "look it up" (although i have added that as comments to students trying to get ppl to do their homework)

You don't have an issue with anyone here. As I mentioned your history doesn't seem to show any downvotes anywhere. (That in itself is a rare thing on this site), so it's likely a points realignment than a down-vote. Cheers.

while downvoting, it should also ask for a comment for the reason and might be display as reason for downvoting to the author (it can still be anonymous)?
