"Maybe we should .." [stupidest plan in the whole history of mankind] "In theory it would be good if .." [something that is absolute crap in practice] And then I know this guy who has a tinfoil hat superglued to his head, and almost everything he says is verbal feces. In Dutch I'd call him a sjembek.

Excellent phrase! Gotta remember that one!

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." - John Quincy Adams "Let me get this straight. You know her. She knows you. But she wants to eat him. And everybody's okay with this?" - Timon

So what are your favorite phrases that people use on you that lets you know they are talking completely out of their other end? My favorites are: "Basically, the customer" ....and you can change customer to any other noun and it would be the same "Technically speaking, " .....normally followed by some astounding pile of absolute cr#p. and my favorite programmer one: "The equipment is a bit wonky..." to explain why their stuff doesn't work There are more, but i have heard both of these this morning, (and the programming one recently) and knew instantly, I was about to be fed a line of BS. So...what are your favorites?

I'm rather partial to the French phrase péter plus haut que son cul, which means "to fart higher than one's (behind)" (the word is a bit ruder than that  )

"This is our number one priority..." "We didn't change anything..." any use of the phrase "going forward" or similar biz-speak, and any sentence that contains the proper nouns "Sales" or "Marketing".

[I mention I can fix a bug most would consider a show stopper] "That's out of scope." "In my experience..." [so basically you can't prove what you just said and you are ignoring my counter example] "Oh crap, I just sharted." [usually I just say that in my head]

Any time someone prepends or appends the phrase "I shit you not!" to any story you know they are full of shit. :) Works in all contexts, personal as well as work related stories.
