Wireless Mouse/ Keyboard

I've had the Logitech Cordless Freedom Pro (wireless keyboard and mouse) for just about 2 years now, and I have to give it the highest marks. It has withstood 10+ hours a day of typing, what seems like 6 days a week for 2 years and it is still going strong. When it comes to input devices, Logitech has my vote all around. /CMH

The keyboard uses 2 AA batteries, and I replace them about once every three month or so The mouse uses 2 AAA batteries and I replace them about every 4 month. (More often if I am having a bad quarter and play UnrealTournament of Quake3 alot :-) )

I use and love my 5 button mouse from MS. With intelipoint you can set the buttons on a per app bases. Can't wait for the 10 button mouse. Darroll

Recommendation: keep spare batteries on hand! You have no idea what a pain it is when your mouse starts flaking out and you have to run to the store to get new batteries. Marc Help! I've tried many different keyboards during the last couple of years, but IMHO the best keyboard is the General Purpose Keyboard G80-3000/G81-3000[^] by Cherry. AFAIK it's the only keyboard available with click. Unfortunately, it's not wireless. Regards Thomas Sonork id: 100.10453 Thömmi

Excuse my obvious ignorance, but why go for wireless? What advantages to they have outside of a board room / presentation environment? I'd rather have a no fuss optical mouse that is always guaranteed to work every time I put my hand on it, not something I need to care for and feed like a real rodent. :~

If you use a wireless mouse 8+ hours a day, be prepared to buy some rechargeable batteries and recharge often. I have used Microsoft's and Logitech's wireless mice and I would only recommend the Logitech MX700. The mouse is optical, has awesome resolution, and comes with a recharging cradle so you don't have to replace batteries every week like I did with the Microsoft wireless optical mouse. The MX700 doesn't go into standby to save power like the Microsoft mouse did. As far as I'm concerned, the MX700 is the first really usuable wireless mouse for developement and gaming purposes. It's a little pricey at $69 US, but well worth it.

I use the cordless freedom pro too for mote than 1 year. About the batteries : I never changed the keyboard batteries, but for the mouse, you HAVE TO buy rechargeable batteries. I think I change the mouse battery every 3 weeks .

I've got Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical and it's great. You can work wherever you want. Once I went out of my room, closed the door, moved to the other room and closed the second door while my uncle was in my room. He said that the keyboard and mouse worked perfectly. The only problem I had was the lack of cordless monitor. :cool: The set is wonderful so I suggest you to buy it. :)

I went and bought the Logitech Navigator Duo. Easy install, works great, so far!. Thanks for all the input! I also got a "good as new" 19" Trinitron from a buddy of mine. I've got my Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical for three months now and it's really the best! From what I know/seen, the MS has changed the keyboard layout "slightly" (size of Return key etc) so I wouldn't get that one if I was you... / L-G --- $> cd /pub $> more beer

Mkes up for their price after a few uses. :-D That's why I ramble so much. If you're short and quotable, there's a much greater danger of ending up in a sig. I've got a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo (one receiver for both). I think it was the first combo set they made, "Cordless iTouch Keybaord" and "Cordless Wheel Mouse". I've loved it ever since I got it about 3 years ago. Keybaord takes two AA's and lasts about 6 months without changing, and the keys have a nice soft feel to them. Mouse takes two AAA's and lasts 4 months or so on a set. Really the only complaint I have is that they tend to lose reception if the receiver is vertically lower than either the mouse or keyboard. Other than that it's been great and I can't recommend it enough. I also got a Logitech cordless optical mouse for my mom's new box that I built, and I don't like it as well. Goes through batteries about once every 1-2 months and seems to have worse reception. Stick with the ball. Jeff Sand jsand at interaccess dot com

I can't speak for the Logitech, but I have the MS wireless optical mouse, and if I had to do it again, I'd stick with a wired mouse. I find it's constantly trying to go back in 'sleep' mode, so you have to jiggle it or move it a fair distance to 'reactivate' it. I get pissed off at it every time I'm trying to move a slider by small increments as the mouse doesn't respond...fine-tuning is out of the question with this mouse, it's practically impossible to move just a few pixels. That'd also a hinderance (sp?) with some games. I'd still be willing to give the Logitech a try, they have a good reputation, but all things considered, I've sworn off Microsoft wireless mice. Oh yeah, and it chews through batteries, if I can go 6 weeks without replacing the batteries I'm lucky. I'm also using it 8+ hours a day. I'd assume a mouse with a ball would use less power, but I'm not going back from optical (I have my wireless at work, and a wired optical at home).
