Religion to become extinct[^]. Thank God for that. Now if we can find something to replace oil, there will be no more problems on Earth.

It's a study - meaning that it's the conclusion of some academics, based on the numbers that they were reviewing. I doubt that it'll become extinct; there'll always be people (like me) who keep seeing design in things like fractals, and who refuse to believe that nothing explodes for the mere fun of it. Next, I doubt that it would reduce the amounts of wars. Most religious wars have been started for non-religious reasons- they're a group that's used to being led without asking much questions, so it's quite easy to abuse them. They're usually equally simple to rouse like the average democrat :)

There are still 150 million americans who believe our planet is less than 10,000 years old. I don't see them getting a clue anytime soon.

I'm sadly believing this to be wrong. People will just start to believe in something else, like homeopathy, dowsing rods, crystal therapy or some other new age nonsense.

I don't think extinct is the right word. I think it will approach 100% fragmentation. Like news is today. In my parent's time, there were only a handful of news sources: 2 newspapers, and 4 TV stations. That was it. They couldn't get news any other way. How many are there now? An almost uncountable number. Religion is quickly becoming the same. Note in the study they didn't ask people whether or not they believed in God. They asked if they were affiliated with a church. Big difference that.

It's a generalisation, to state the obvious. Take a stadium full of soccer-fans and you have the same thing - and we'll always have those kind of groups, and we'll always have people who abuse those groups :)
